The education system in Singapore aims to support the development of children’s strengths and social skills, to achieve excellence for its students, in preschool, primary, secondary, and post-secondary education (junior colleges, polytechnics, and institutes of technical education). Singaporean children attend preschool up to the age of six, getting prepared for primary school.

Preschool education is an essential aspect of the education system in Singapore. It consists of one year of nursery and two years of kindergarten . At preschool, children learn to develop basic language and writing skills, as well as social skills, creativity, and physical activities. At the same time, they will learn two languages (usually English and either Chinese, Malay, or Tamil).

The main language of instruction in Singapore is English, which was officially designated the first language within the local education system in 1987. English is the first language learned by half of the children by the time they reach preschool and becomes the primary medium of instruction by the time they reach primary school.

The school aims to engage each child’s interest and motivation by giving them daily opportunities for creative expression through child-led, process-focused learning. To encourage them to question, reason, hypothesize, develop self-confidence and learn. Little Paddington Preschool believes that learning is a journey so they want to let the kids navigate, explore, watch them discover themselves and their potential as a well being, let them ask the things they want to know, allow them to strive to achieve what they long for an answer and support their thinking.

As an approach for teaching preschoolers they use Objective Based to facilitate specific areas of concern for children, Inquiry Based allows the children to participate in a discussion, Creativity Based encourage and honors child’s creativity, Play Based wherein children are exposed to a learning environment they are able to learn thru playing activities, Research Based and Theme Based.
